GRAND CHAMPION Bluerain Black Sambuca

Sam is a lovely boy, from my good friend Julie Caffel, PKD DNA NEG
Sams Sire is..Bluerain Buster Keaton (17) and Busters Dam is Apatchicat Elora Danan. So it is nice that Sam goes back to one of my own cats.
Sams Dam is..Kiswahili trick or treat (15)
He is the greediest cat in the world and is rather heavy. He cannot possibly be hungry all the time but is often found rooting in the bin or stealing scraps! And I DO feed him alot of quality food on a regular basis!!
He has the most adorable and loving nature though so we can forgive his greediness. He is a growing lad after all.
He has matured into a stunning cat, he is very gentle with the girls, I am looking forward to some kittens from him this year and hope to keep a girl or two :)
Pictured above at a year old attending his first show.
I cannot thank Julie enough for all her kindness and help over the last few years.
Sam attended his first show at Gwynedd on the 18th July 09 where he gained his first CC from Mr Welsh, He also gained 2 firsts and a second in his side classes which was a brilliant achievement against some nice cats.
Critique;
1. CC & BoB WILDS BLUERAIN BLACK SAMBUCA (15) 05/07/08 Male. Young lad still maturing but good size for age, round head with neat well set ears, round gold eyes, cheeks filling out well, level bite. Body solid & developing well, short legs. Coat short & dense, slightly unsound paling towards the roots, shining black. Thick tail in balance with body. Good temperament

Sams second show was the Chester and Northwales show on the 8th August 09 and he was awarded his 2nd CC and BOB by Ann Ivinson. He also gained a first and 2 3rds in his side classes doing very well against some lovely cats in fair sized classes.
Critique;
1. CC. BOB. WILDS BLUEBRAIN BLACK SAMBUCCA. 15. M. 5.7.08. A very solid looking lad for 1yr. showing good British type. Round head, with good breadth and depth; neat ears with good space between; mature cheeks to muzzle line; level bite, short broad nose, firm chin; round eyes of a pale gold. Good size and weight to cobby body; broad chest; short well boned legs, round paws; balanced tail. Coat jet black, sound to roots, short, dense, and firm. A gentle lad who handled well, and was shown in good condition.

Sams third show was the Teeside on the 28th August 09 and WHAT a day!
As well as gaining 1st and CC he also got the BOB which was not expected as there was a gorgeous cat in the class for BOB only!! He also did brilliantly in his side classes gaining 1st out of 6, 1st out of 8, and 2nd out of 9, His judges said lots of lovely things about him.
A truly fabulous day and Sams official name is now CHAMPION Bluerain Black Sambuca.
Critique From Openclass judge Liz Machin;
BLACK ADULT MALE
1st CC & BOB WILDS BLUERAIN BLACK SAMBUCA
Nicely developed and looking right for his age in terms of size, weight, and maturity. Good fully
rounded head offering pleasing width to balance. Well spaced medium sized ears which snugly fit
into the contours of the head. Well set fully rounded eyes of mid copper colour compliment cheeks
which have gently begun to fill out. Broad nose, level bite, chin just a touch weaker than ideal,
muzzle unsurprisingly at this age still just a shade boxy in shape. Strong, broad chest, leading to a
well developed muscular body, that has a really impressive and definite weighty, solid feel behind it,
standing squarely on medium boned legs, culminating in nice fat fully rounded paws. Tail of correct
length, tapering ever so slightly but still offering a correct rounded tip. Impressive coat for the time
of year, being fully jet glossy black, and pleasing totally sound to the roots. Super short, dense coat
which is reasonably crisp to the touch, and of good length. Having judged this lad only a couple of
weeks ago, it was lovely to see just quite how beneficial just a few days even can be! He is looking a
totally different cat now, and full credit to the work his owner put in behind this achievement, as he
completely deserved to take his CC today without any hesitation. A seriously soppy purry lad. Lovely!

Shropshire show 2010.
Sam gained his 1st Grand Challenge Certificate and was Best British in show!!!!!! He was also well placed in his side classes. Sadly I forgot my camera so didnt get a picture of him on the top table.

Lakeland CatClub Show 2010
Sam Gained his 2nd GrCh cert and BOB and did well in his side classes, Thanks to Dr Moorman who spoke very highly of him :)
Show critique from open Class judge Dr Moorman GR CH: CH BLUERAIN BLACK SAMBUCA: This beautiful jet black British SH male was one of my favourites of the show. He has a magnificent body-head (large) proportion and ex round forms, including full cheeks. Both ears (well rounded) and eyes (large and well coloured) are set well apart which gives this male such a lovely open expression. For a black he has a dense coat as well. The cobby appearance and the lovely short tail accentuate the roundness of this extraordinary exhibit. I love him!

Chester and Northwales Cat club show.
Sam gained his final Grand CC today against good competition, making him a Grand Champion, he also was awarded BOB and was placed in all his side classes. Show critique from his judge Ann Ivinson,
This 2yr old Black boy, showing good British type, has a very friendly and outgoing personality. Round head with good breadth and depth; neat ears; cheeks well developed to behind the muzzle line; firm chin, level bite, short broad nose; round eyes of a golden colour.

Solid cobby shaped body of good weight and substance; broad chest; short well boned legs, neat paws; balanced tail.

Coat jet black in shade, sound to roots, a little soft in texture but with good density. He was moulting a little today. He was a lovely lad who handled well and was shown in good condition.

Thanks to all his judges for placing him so well.
